Natural Solutions for Oily Skin

Hey everyone! Summer time comes with great activities, awesome people and lots of fun. Despite the beautiful weather, there is something non pleasant about it: oily skin. Here I share with you three quick solutions that will help diminish the excess of sebum. For those of you that have to worry about your makeup melting down your face or your skin being too shiny, these tips will work wonders so that you can fully enjoy your summer!

1. Tomato paste for brightening and fighting excess oil
Tomato is great for keeping your skin glossy, healthy and young looking because of the Vitamin C and Vitamin A in it. It also contains a high amount of antioxidants. Take a ripe tomato from the fridge and blend it into a paste. Massage it into your skin and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Rinse out with lukewarm water .The antioxidants from the tomato will absorb the excess sebum and will leave you with a fresh and luminous complexion.

2. Cucumber juice and lemon for a glowy complexion
Most of the hair care and skin care products are manufactured using cucumber as one of its main ingredients. Facial masks containing cucumber juice are beneficial for skin tightening. The most common use of cucumber pulp and juice is to improve complexion and rejuvenate the skin. Mix cucumber juice with a few drop of lemon juice and apply it as a facial mask. This will improve the complexion and will add a glow to the skin. Mix 3 tsp cucumber juice with 1 tsp lemon juice. Apply on the skin with a cotton pad. Apply it all over the face and leave it for 20 minutes. Wash it off with tap water and pat dry.
3. Cold water and sea salt
Sea salt contains properties that deep cleans the skin by gently exfoliating it making your skin softer, smoother and oil free.  It contains calcium, which is known for its ability to deep-clean the pores in our skin. Also, cold water also contributes in removing the excess oil from face, Place half a  cup of water in the fridge until it is cold enough to still be able to apply it on the face. Add a teaspoon of salt. Mix it well and apply on the skin with a cotton pad, avoiding the eye area. After 3 minutes, rinse out with clean water. You can also make a salt spray and spray it on your face regularly to reduce the oily appearance to a great extent.
These solutions are not recommended for sensitive skin or before and after sun exposure.

How to get the Perfect Beachy Hair

Hey guys! I am in Malibu, California at the moment and I am having a wonderful time. The weather is perfect, the sun is shining bright and the beaches are full. I went to the ocean yesterday for a couple of hours and on my way home I realized that my hair had beautiful waves and a lot of volume. I love this look for the summer and the fact that it is a no heat hairstyle. If you won’t be spending your afternoon at the beach or you just want something quick and easy, this look is easily achievable at home with a few steps:

  1. Wash your hair with the Lush Seanik shampoo bar, which will give body and volume to the hair. This step is optional, but I would highly recommend it for people with straight hair.
  2. Take a spray bottle and fill it with warm water. Drop in 1-2 tablespoons of sea salt, depending on the size of your bottle and mix it until it is dissolved. The sea salt in the ocean is what gives you those beautiful messy waves that we want to recreate. Make sure not to put too much salt, since it can dry out your hair.
  3. Spray it on damp or dry hair, scrunching it as you go. You can even apply it to your roots for extra volume. Let it air dry.
  4. Apply a pump of Macademia oil ( or any oil of your choice) to the tips of your hair for a lot of shine and an amazing summery scent.

If you want more structured waves, take a few pieces that need to be retouched and curl some inwards and some outwards with a small curling wand. This will make this hairstyle more put together but still keep it looking effortless and messy.

There you have it, a simple way to recreate the perfect beachy waves without the beach.
I am in love with this hairstyle for the summer time and since i am at the beach, it takes no time at all. I am going to enjoy California’s sun and the rest of my vacation here. Have a great day!

New Favorite Lush product: I love Juicy Shampoo!

Hey everyone! I went to Lush the other day to buy a new shampoo and felt in love with my purchase right after the first use. First, let's talk a bit about my hair: I have really thin brown straight hair that I'm trying to grow out, which is not easy since it keeps falling a lot. Plus, I have oily roots that cause me to wash my hair very often. I was looking for a shampoo that was going to control my oily hair and possibly allow me to extend my time in between washes. The lady recommended me the 'I Love Juicy' shampoo, one of the most popular.

The description says: 'You don’t have to battle oily locks by washing it excessively. You just need effective, deep cleansing ingredients. Start a love affair with the mighty fruit cocktail of I Love Juicy shampoo. Fresh fruit juices of pineapple, mango and kiwi are slightly acidic and help to mop up excess sebum (oil) produced by the scalp. With sea salt for volume and seaweed extract to soften  you're left with squeaky clean hair and scalp, unbelievable shine you’re left with squeaky clean hair and scalp, unbelievable shine and touchably soft tresses. Oily hair? It’s a thing of the past.'
After the first use, I could already notice that my hair was really soft, shiny and it had a lot of volume.   It smells amazing too! I rinsed it with organic Apple Cider Vinegar and applied Macademia Oil on my roots after I got out of the shower. My hair has a lot of body and is very manageable. I am overall very happy with the results so far and I would recommend it to everybody!
